Shooting a video displaying what time is and means without
talking about time can become challenging. It can also become extremely fun and
creative. Throughout the process, there were many challenging occurrences. Some
challenges that occurred while shooting the video for “time” were figuring out
how to shoot a close-up shot and a far away shot.

Editing
was a challenging process. The first problem and probably the biggest one was
the fact that the entire group overshot. This meant that the group had to take
out a lot of scenes that could have potentially helped the narrative of “time”
in order to fit the allotted time frame. Another challenge of editing was the
lack of experience the group had in editing films. Looking at a program and
trying to figure out how to use something completely foreign to a person is
challenging. Once the group learned the basics of editing it became easier to
complete the project.
Video is used as a
communication tool is a very effective way to get a point across. Using video
keeps the viewer involved in what is going on and it's easier to view something
than to read something. Using the video for in terms of displaying what time is and
means is a much more effective way than writing about time. A person can read
about time as much as they want and obtain a good grasp of what it is and still
not be able to fully understand it because they cannot visualize it. A photo
can help a viewer visualize time, but a still photo can’t show an evolution of
time.
The
public nature of the group didn’t affect the subject matter of the project.
Time is relative in all aspects of life no matter the difference in anyone’s
public nature they all must deal with time. Whether someone is always late,
early, or on time they are including time in their life. In fact, the general
public bases they’re entire life on time. People base what they do and when
they do it based on what time it is and how long it takes. Everyone in this
group is part of the “general public”.
The self-portrait aspect of the filming process was pretty cool to see when the
project was fully put together. Seeing everyone from the group’s face and
acting in the film was an incredible experience. When acting in the scenes
people can’t see themselves or fully understand how they look until they see it
after.

After
this film project was completed there was a greater understand and appreciation
for the film industry. The film industry puts in so much work and time into
creating anything for people’s entertainment. This small film project was nowhere near the quality of industry films that are made and there were still
tons of time and thought put into this project. Imagine how much planning and
time is put into an industry quality film or television show. Most people just
sit back and watch the tv for entertainment but people who actually understand
what goes into creating a film think about how it was made what effects were
used.
The
film industry is an incredible thing and being able to take part in creating a
short film was an experience that the group will never forget. “Time” was an
amazing subject to display.
