Creating a Website

The website that was created in the final weeks of class is a great start for self-promotion. The website will be used to display personal portfolios, social media accounts, and contact information. Displaying the portfolio is one of the biggest advantages a person looking for work can use. The portfolio shows what the person seeking the job is capable of. The portfolio is also important when it comes to people who are hiring for the position. Looking at a potential job candidate’s body of work is important.
The social media specifically used for this website was Twitter. The job that was done during the Twitter project shows people that there has been many well formulated opinions and statements put forth by the person who has connected their Twitter with the website.

Showing that the use of social media is apart of a prospective hire’s life and that they know how to use it is an important part of the hiring process these days. If someone doesn’t know how to work or use social media especially when looking for a job in the communications field, it is looked down upon.
Tying in social media with websites, in general, is a necessity. The way the internet has become everyone’s go-to source of research and information when looking for in-depth information of anything or anyone, when creating a website to promote yourself people must include their social media.
Creating the website was a very interesting process in which people learned many new things. The coding process was pretty fun, and it showed us that creating a website isn’t as easy as people would think. Linking the coding to the website folder was amazing. One the code was put in whatever was being used in the folder immediately popped up on the site that was cool.
Using adobe acrobat to edit the pdf’s so they would be able to be opened in the correct viewing format form the website was very useful. The use of photoshop to edit the photos and create the correct sizes was a game-changer as well. Creating a website is by no means done by using one platform of creation. For example, Dreamweaver was the “website creator” but as previously stated a lot of work was done in other adobe platforms to help make the content viewable in Dreamweaver.
Overall the website project was a success and a great experience. The knowledge the entire class has come away with is huge. Knowing how to create websites is a very attractive skillset in the workforce and can help people get hired or gain income from freelance work. With times constantly changing and technology improving everyday business are looking to have a bigger presence online or even run totally online. In order to have an online business or a presence the business needs a website. Knowing how to create one
for them is a skill set that can most certainly be used in a multitude of ways.
